At today’s BDT staff engagement meeting, I connected with colleagues at HQ in Geneva and across our 6 @ITU-D regions. It was a time to share the progress that we are making together in advancing #BDT4Impact. We exchanged views on innovative ways of overcoming challenges and delivering impactful results for the benefit of the people worldwide. We also welcomed colleagues who recently joined the Telecommunication Development Bureau. Grateful to my team for the results they continue to deliver every day. Together, we will continue to effectively implement #WTDC-25 outcomes and advance #BDT4Impact.

Good to once again meet @MacdonaldIngrid, @UN Resident Coordinator in Albania, ahead of my meeting with the @UN Country Team. We spoke about strengthening partnerships to drive development in 🇦🇱, including closer collaboration across the @UN system and with other stakeholders. Thank you for your support for #GirlsInICT Day. I look forward to your participation in tomorrow’s global celebration. @UN_Albania

It was a pleasure to brief the @UN_Albania Country Team on @ITU’s work to drive digital transformation, advance universal meaningful connectivity, and support the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. Encouraging to see our synergies and common vision, including on #AIforDevelopment.

We close an important week at the @ITU-D Study Group 1 meeting, with valuable contributions across the new work cycle. I thank our Chair, Roberto Hirayama, and vice-chairs for their leadership, and congratulations to our new rapporteurs and vice rapporteurs who will help process technical inputs and research contribute to study questions, under the Study Group 1 mandate on universal meaningful connectivity for bridging the digital divide. Come next week, we will continue with this momentum as we engage in @ITU-D Study Group 2, discussions from 20 to 24 April.

Always proud of the work our Regional Directors lead across the world to deliver #BDT4Impact. Today at #ITUTDAG they spoke about their plans to implement the Regional Initiatives, mobilise resources, scale successful projects and ensure we all deliver real impact — connecting the unconnected and transforming lives.

It was a pleasure to open the Network of Women #NoW in @ITU-D networking event at #ITUTDAG. Closing the digital gender gap takes sustained action. Over the next four years, we have a real opportunity to turn our global vision into a local reality for women and girls everywhere — in cities and villages, in connected and underserved communities — so they can fully participate and lead in the digital world. And a warm birthday wish to our #NoW in @ITU-D Chair, Mina Seonmin Jun — thank you for your leadership and commitment to empowering women in the digital space.

My thanks to #ITUTDAG Chair @bessou_a and the Bureau for their leadership and commitment to advancing digital development.

Building on the outcomes of #WTDC-25 and its first Resolution on AI for development, the @ITUDevelopment Advisory Group will turn commitments into action for a people-centered digital future with #NoOneLeftBehind.  #ITUTDAG

Tomorrow, we welcome delegates to @ITU headquarters in Geneva for the 33rd meeting of #ITUTDAG, our first meeting since #ITUWTDC in Baku. I look forward to the first sitting of TDAG where we will review the outcomes of WTDC-25 and move forward with the implementation of the Baku Action Plan.
