May they be given the spaces to be inspired and nurtured without limitations, and may they each be allowed to lead lives that remind them of the validity of their hopes and all of their dreams.

I graduated from #Harvard with a PhD in May. It still feels like a dream. I’m grateful to the shy little girl who dared to dream, who inspired me to go farther than I ever saw. I’ll never be able to shake off the weight of this moment. God truly is the Sustainer of our #dreams.
I graduated with my PhD from #harvard in May. I will never be able to shake off the weight of this moment. Little Anwuli, 17 years ago you gave me a dream. Thank you for daring to dream. It came true Anwuli, it came true.
To everyone who came on this journey with me, thank you, thank you, thank you, from the depths of my heart. And I am grateful to God, because He showed me that He listened to the dreams I had as a little girl, and He carried them for me in His loving arms.

For everyone who’s ever dreamed, and for every little child whose heart needs a little story to remind them of how precious their dreams are, I genuinely hope this gives you some encouragement, and inspires your heart in many beautiful ways.

On April 28, 2026, I defended my PhD at Harvard.
I’m still in awe—of the moment and its meaning, the community that held me, and the grace that made it possible. God who began the good work carried it through. And I am so grateful for this.

I wasn’t sure whether to share this here; Twitter can be an intense space.
But I’m leaving it in honour of God’s grace, and for anyone who might find encouragement in it.
Looking forward to the Economic History Society’s annual conference this weekend, and to sharing my work on the historical indices of poverty in Southern Nigeria.

Thank you The Dial, for sharing our experiences. These experiences and their effects have continued to affect many communities and families in more ways than we could imagine.
Nigeria’s catastrophic flood in 2022 left many communities struggling for survival. Other communities were completely washed away. In our Rivers issue, @ifeosaa examines destruction—and the systems complicit in it: thedial.world/issue-6/nigeri…
Yesterday was the International Day of the African Child. We also officially began our Hope Learning Project yesterday. All of us at the SOH Hope Family celebrate every African child all around the world.
May they be given the spaces to be inspired and nurtured without limitations, and may they each be allowed to lead lives that remind them of the validity of their hopes and all of their dreams.

This post-flood phase of the crisis is dear to me, for in it we weigh how far they have come, how much help they have found, and how much more support they will need in the process of starting life afresh.
Many never found help. But the post-first-moment phase comes with a silencing of grief and a painful oblivion to the continuity of precariousness. This is the phase where true support should come.
school support for kids whose families were too badly affected to keep them in school the year after, and small-scale farmers and traders who need a little help to rebuild their livelihoods. Every donation we receive will do so much for them.
The flood was devastating, and in every sense, bad. It’s now post-flood season, and many are having to pull their lives together again without any support or much hope for the near future.
9. Tinubu will be banking on the rascality that engulfed the Nigerian judiciary since inception. But this time? The Supreme Court will be on trial.
12 Justices will decide (The People Vs Bola Ahmed Tinubu). 5 justices of the Court of Appeal, & 7 justices of the Supreme Court.
This was one of my favourite moments. When we got to one of the places we were going to surprise our kids at, my 3pm prayer alarm rang and I invited Nifemi to pray with us, and she did.

She lives with her grandma in a tough area. It’s not easy for them. As 2023 comes, one of my heart desires is to support her, to be present for her and some of our kids in the ways God would give us grace. She is a beautiful child who needs someone to see the star within her.
May 2023 bring us more opportunities to love, to help, to support, and to inspire others around us. And when these opportunities come, may we take them.
