For years I have been doing smooth scroll with various approaches including translate3d. However it seems window.scrollTo is so optimized now that we can just do this on the window (overwriting wheel events). Any experience or pro/cons with this approach?

A huge downside is that (wheel) event.deltaY doesn't reflect the pixels to scroll, but gives different values between browsers and therefore needs to be normalized.

In a nutsheel it's a battle between something like the Locomotive-scroll and the approach that this site uses: rallyinteractive.com/case-st…

Today's SOTD means "Army Party" in Danish: haerfest.com/ I wonder how they came up with that name :-)

I don't understand why we are seeing so many preloaders on Awwwards sites again. Often I wait 5 seconds and all I get is 1 image and some text... lazy load people :-)

Working with Figma at the moment. I only have good things to say about that - not missing Sketch og Photoshop at all. And it's super fast to learn.

This year we had our 3rd son. Amazing with all those kids around 😅 hardest but best time of my life. Hope you all have a great holidays with your loved ones.

Many website devs are forgetting about horizontal trackpad scroll. It's really nice for lists to just scroll instead of using arrows. And it's easy to implement.
This year I have worked on some great websites using primarily HTML and CSS, loading only small js files (no fancy frameworks). I gotta say I love the simplicity and fast workflow. I wish I learned more HTML/CSS when I started with actionscript many years ago.

And I hope new frontend devs learn as much HTML and CSS as JS and frameworks/libraries. Learning the basics is important.
