These servicemen from Manipur have been honoured with Vir Chakras and Shaurya Chakras. Sub-Inspector Deepak Chingakham of Yairipok Yambem in Imphal East district was posthumously awarded the Vir Chakra at the Defence Investiture Ceremony-2026 (Phase-I). The award was received by his parents, Chingakham Ibemhal Devi and Chingakham Bonbihari Singh. Squadron Leader Rizwan Malik of Keikhu in Imphal East was also awarded the Vir Chakra for his service during Operation Sindoor. Major Leishangthem Deepak Singh of 11 Para (Special Forces) received the Shaurya Chakra 2026 for displaying courage and dedication in the line of duty. The conferment of the Shaurya Chakra upon Rifleman Manglem Sang Vaiphei of 3 Assam Rifles is also a matter of immense pride for Manipur and the nation. Serious illnesses such as cancer, kidney disease, and heart ailments place immense physical, emotional, and financial burdens on patients and their families. During such difficult times, it is our responsibility to stand by our people and extend every possible support. With this objective, the MLA Ana Layengi Tengbang Scheme was launched in May 2022. Under this scheme, our committee identifies eligible beneficiaries and provides financial assistance of Rs 20000/ per patient. Since its inception, more than 350 patients suffering from cancer, heart and kidney related illnesses have received assistance under the scheme. This initiative is a humble effort to support affected families and help ease their hardships during challenging times. Our committee members will be visiting various localities to support another 4-5 families today. A historic day for the people of Sagolband as we laid the Foundation Stone for the Overhead Reservoir at Bijoy Govinda, a pilot project under AMRUT 2.0. Upon its completion and commissioning, this project will provide 24/7 drinking water supply to the residents of various localities. Manipur is the second state in the country, after Odisha, to implement this initiative. Two such overhead reservoirs have been sanctioned under the project, and we are fortunate that one of them has been allotted to Sagolband. Thank all the department officials for making it a success. Over the past 14 years, we have worked consistently to strengthen water infrastructure across the constituency. Through the laying of new water pipelines throughout Sagolband and the commissioning of a new overhead reservoir at Sagolband Tera, we have ensured a regular and reliable supply of drinking water throughout the constituency. Attended the Sagolband Constituency Meritorious Award 2026 at Thingom Leikai, organized by the Sagolband Constituency Progressive Committee. The event was held to felicitate and encourage nearly 250 students who have achieved success through their dedication, perseverance, and hard work over the past year. Heartiest congratulations to all the students who participated today. Wishing each one of you a bright and successful future filled with dedication, discipline, and continuous learning. Our commitment has always been to support students not only after their achievements but throughout their academic journey. Ahead of their examinations, many students were enrolled in Revision Courses conducted in December to provide guidance and academic support. In addition, more than 30 students have been sponsored for coaching classes for competitive examinations such as NEET and JEE at Nachom Edu Foundation and Physics Wallah, Babupara. Through these initiatives, we aim to mentor, guide, and empower our young minds on their path to success. We have also prioritized the development of educational infrastructure across the constituency. Over the last few years, four 100-bedded hostels have been handed over at TG, Johnstone, Kebol, and GP Women’s College. These facilities reflect our vision of providing students, especially those from far-flung areas, with a conducive learning environment and affordable accommodation, reducing the burden of costly rental housing. Furthermore, double-storey school buildings have been constructed at Rishikul Primary School, Popular School, and Wahengbam Leikai Junior High School to strengthen educational infrastructure and create better learning spaces for our students. Had the privilege of inaugurating a new Gym Centre at Kakhulong for the residents of the surrounding localities, which aims to promote good health, fitness, and a more disciplined lifestyle among our people. I am pleased to share that over the past 14 years, numerous development projects have been successfully undertaken in Kakhulong and Paona Bazaar. There was a time when residents faced inadequate water supply and had to rely frequently on water tankers. Street lighting was insufficient, and the regular distribution of PDS items remained a challenge. Today, the situation has changed significantly. Residents can proudly say that there is a regular supply of drinking water, street lighting on major roads in Paona Bazaar, Kakhulong, and along the Nambul Riverside Road from Masjid to Keisampat. Major road and drainage infrastructure projects are also underway to meet the area’s needs for the next two decades. Upon completion of these works, blacktopping will be carried out across the entire area. We also succeeded in securing compensation for standing properties of all residents along the Kakhulong Nambul Riverside stretch, a matter that had remained pending since 1994. Following the settlement of compensation, the riverside road was successfully constructed. A concrete and decisive step has been taken by the Central Government to check and prevent demographic imbalances across the country. The Union Home Minister Shri @AmitShah has announced the constitution of a High Level Committee on Demographic Change, headed by a retired Supreme Court judge. This important initiative seeks to address the challenges arising from illegal influx and the resulting demographic imbalances affecting various parts of the country, particularly the North Eastern States, including Manipur. We have consistently highlighted, right from the very beginning, the serious concerns relating to illegal immigration, which has led to significant challenges, including unnatural population growth. We are hopeful that this time bound committee will effectively examine and address the various issues confronting both our State and the nation.

An incredible evening at the 5th Achiever’s Night during the North East Cricket Development Committee (NECDC) meet hosted by the Manipur Cricket Association in Imphal. It was a pleasure to have all our association members and representatives from across the North East come together to celebrate and promote cricket across the region. What began nearly a decade ago as a vision to strengthen cricket in the North East through the NECDC has steadily transformed into a remarkable journey of growth and progress. Today, cricket is developing rapidly across all the North Eastern states, with Manipur proudly emerging as one of the torchbearers of this movement. Over the past few years, our performances in various junior categories have shown significant improvement, reflecting the hard work and dedication of our players, coaches, and administrators. At the same time, the Manipur Cricket Association (MNCA) has made major strides in strengthening cricket infrastructure in the state. The Luwangshangbam Cricket Ground has now been fully developed, with new turf wickets being laid to facilitate the hosting of domestic BCCI matches in the near future — a vision further reinforced by assurances from BCCI Secretary and IPL Governing Council Member, Mr. Mamon Majumdar. In addition to the expansion of the stadium with newly inaugurated wings in recent years and the installation of floodlight facilities supported by the State Government, BCCI has also ensured the successful completion of the new Indoor Facility at Luwangshangbam. Equipped with indoor pitches, a swimming pool, gymnasium, and other modern amenities, the facility promises to play a vital role in nurturing the next generation of cricketers from Manipur and the North East. @BCCI

Glimpses from the inauguration of the new Water ATM Booth at Kwakeithel Leimakhujam Leikai, an initiative supported by the Central Government. Under this initiative, Sagolband has received the facilities of two such Water ATMs, with the second booth at Meino Leirak set to be inaugurated very soon. This is a pilot project under which 20 Water ATM booths have been sanctioned across Manipur. The booths will provide safe drinking water directly from the tap, similar to packaged water enriched with prescribed nutrients and minerals, at an affordable rate of Rs 10 for a 20 litre jar, compared to the market price of Rs 50/60 per jar. The people of Sagolband are already receiving adequate supply of drinking water in their localities. A new water reservoir is also being constructed at Bijoy Govinda under AMRUT 2.0 scheme, which will give 24/7 water supply to nearby localities. #ProgressForAll #SagolbandMarchingAhead
