The whole concept of "write a short/long answer, evaluate, give 3/5 or 4/5" is fundamentally broken. Even with hyper-specific rubrics, grading remains an illusion of objectivity. Why is an answer worth 2 marks vs 4? It’s arbitrary. A hyper-colonial relic designed to rank and sort minds, not measure true learning.
Such an evaluation system was designed to train efficient, compliant bureaucrats to run an empire. Standardized, point-based grading was the perfect tool for that because it prioritizes uniformity, easy sorting, and obedience to a rigid structural formula over genuine intellectual curiosity.
