For context, our purpose in seeking an appointment at the Janata Darbar was to request an opportunity to brief Hon'ble CM @SuvenduWB Ji on serious concerns regarding the Government College of Art & Craft, Kolkata—the country's oldest government art college, where Abanindranath Tagore painted the iconic Bharat Mata and which was visited by Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore. We wished to present concerns relating to alleged irregularities from the previous regime, including recruitment, infrastructure, administrative functioning, and the future of this historic institution, along with supporting documents. However, we were advised by intermediaries that these matters should only be taken up with the Higher Education Department and not be placed before the Chief Minister. If issues concerning one of India's most important heritage institutions cannot even be brought to the notice of the Chief Minister, then how can the true spirit of good governance and public accountability be realised? Having worked alongside national BJP leaders in the past, I had the privilege of witnessing Shri Amit Shah Ji's Janata Darbar, where people from every walk of life—from ordinary citizens to industrialists—could present their concerns directly, without unnecessary barriers. I genuinely believe Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Suvendu Adhikari Ji has the same intention of staying connected with the people. However, the current system appears to be defeating that very objective. If a handful of intermediaries at the State BJP Office decide who is "fit" to meet the Chief Minister, many genuine voices and important public issues may never reach him. A Janata Darbar should be a bridge between the people and their leader—not a bottleneck. I respectfully request @SuvenduWB Ji, @BJP4Bengal and the concerned authorities to review the process so that deserving citizens with genuine concerns get a fair opportunity to be heard.
