My Review on episode 8 of Teach You A Lesson. I believe the episode 8 of #TeachYouALesson hit a little too close to home for most of us. 💔 The mother wasn't the kind of parent society easily recognizes as abusive.She fed him, clothed him, paid for his education. And then she spent every waking moment reminding, guilt tripping, gaslighting and manipulating him about it. "I sacrificed everything for you." "I gave up my life for you." "Do you know how hard I worked for you?" His achievement had to justify her sacrifices. His failure became proof that he was wasting her suffering and sacrifice. A lot of us grew up carrying dreams that were never ours. The doctor whose real passion was art. The lawyer who wanted to be a teacher. The engineer who loved music. They all had to put their dreams aside for achieve those of their parents. Some parents don't raise children, instead rhey create vessels for the life they wished they had lived. The saddest part is that it often comes from love. They genuinely believe this to be the best option for you. They would go extreme lengths to see you achieve it. Even feeding you illicit drugs. Her love was so controlling that she stopped seeing Hyeon Min as a person. The scene where Hyeon-min completely lost sight of what he wanted was devastating because that's how it starts. Little by little. Year after year. From birth to adulthood. Until one day someone asks you what your dream is and you realize you've been living somebody else's. Episode 8 was not really about drugs.
