This session, Arizona advanced a strong veterans justice package: HB2226 helps identify veterans at initial appearance, sponsored by @BlackmanForAZ SB1275 gives county attorneys a veterans diversion tool sponsored by @DavidGowanAZ HB2960, sponsored by @TraversforAZ after years of work on this issue, creates a Veterans Specialty Court Grant Program and Treatment Court Fund. Arizona has a chance to move eligible veterans out of ordinary case processing and into supervised treatment, diversion, and community-based reintegration. The ATF Director finally answered the question a lot of gun owners have been asking: Are they actually coming after people with pistol braces? His answer was basically: not proactively… but there’s a catch. And that catch is exactly why so many gun owners don’t trust vague rules, shifting interpretations, and “case-by-case” enforcement. Arizona State University filed to use eminent domain to steal a 124 year old Phoenix home from a senior homeowner The man who owns it is a 89 year old senior citizen who’s owned the home for 50 years ASU says they need the land for their downtown health campus ASU made multiple purchase offers, they’ve offered up to $850,000 for the home. The homeowner keeps refusing. So now they plan to just take the home with eminent domain If eminent domain goes through he’ll be forced to accept the appraisal price

Then the line that lands: 𝘐 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦. Hunt is a West Point graduate and Apache helicopter pilot who actually flew combat, and he is done humoring the slogan. The context: on July 1, one of the most common rifles in America becomes contraband to buy in Virginia. Under the new law signed by Democratic Governor Abigail Spanberger, the sale, import, or transfer of a long list of semi-automatic 𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘶𝘭𝘵 𝘧𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘮𝘴 — the AR-15 chief among them — plus any magazine over 15 rounds, becomes a Class 1 misdemeanor carrying up to a year in jail. Guns you already own are grandfathered, but the NRA, Gun Owners of America, and the Virginia Citizens Defense League sued within hours. Hunt brought receipts. He cites ATF figures showing roughly 𝟔 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐑-𝟏𝟓𝐬, 𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐭 𝟔𝟎 𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐠𝐮𝐧𝐬 — a shape FBI data has long confirmed, with rifles of every type a small single-digit share. 𝐈𝐭 𝐚𝐢𝐧’𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐠𝐮𝐧. 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐡𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐚𝐥 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐜. That is the whole argument in eight words — and it is why the men who have carried a rifle into combat are the last people the gun-banners ever want across the debate stage.
