The idea that statistical differences mean real ontological differences between races is no different than statistical differences mean structural racism, they're two sides of the same coin.

Where were these guys on all the BLM stuff, Aimee Byrd, Covid, churches soft on gays, and feminism in general? Until they start fighting the real enemies in our day, they will continue to be dumbstruck on why they can’t capture the allegiance of young, right-wing men.

I meant this as a criticism of @elimcgowan, but he liked the post, which confused me. I guess it applies to the racists, too, which is an unexpected bonus

Yeah I mean like I said don't know much about them. Maybe they're Nazis. My point is non-Nazis could do something fun and normal, too. Church could be appealing instead of being captured by a theology of grievance and death and riding hobby horse all over everyone's mentions

I don't really know much about New Christendom, and I think I'm supposed to think they're heretics? But this looks fun. Maybe the church could just be normal again?
The second annual New Christendom Games was a success. Feats of strength, Nail biting tie breakers, and the best commentary by the one and only @Brian_Sauve and @tompawnbadil. Great job to @StonecuttrStr for putting on a successful event! Congrats to @Joe__Forti on being the new champion

So when I posted this I had no idea the theme of the conference was "The War for Normal" 🤷‍♂️

Great discussion! I'll admit that I know little about the Puritans and learned much. @JStephenYuille is delightful to listen to with his knowledge of and passion for the Puritans. youtube.com/watch?v=hajE51pm…

I'm mixed on the #sbc26 amendment. (N.B. I'm Presbyterian but that's not why). I think too often a desire to follow scripture comes across as telling women what they cannot do. But ...

In short: incarnation. I don't think one is more important than another. We need both men to shepherd and women to incarnate.

If we have only teachers then we will fail to knit together a body. If we have only incarnaters (sp?) then we will have communities without direction or leadership.

Yikes! I'm not sure if there are methodology issues. At first it was surprising, but then I realized it says "members" not leaders. And I wouldn't be surprised if it is true based on my experience at my previous PCA church. I don't think PCA leaders skew this way... yet
53% of members of the Presbyterian Church in America are OK with "same-sex marriage."

To be clear, I do think this could be a failure in leadership, not a failure in orthodoxy, but a failure to courageously teach the scriptures. Or maybe it's just new converts coming in who don't yet fully know scripture, but then back to the teaching thing.
This! At the church where I was RE it often felt like (and congregants commented) that I was the most active elder. I longed for a church where the elders (not just TE) were teachers, shepherds, pastors, and involved in public prayer and reading and teaching.

People make fun of Presbyterians always having to do things in good order, and it warms my heart to see Baptists consulting with parliamentarians.

I heard a message on Ephesians 5 on Sunday that told men they need to learn to love themselves before they can truly love their wives. It was probably trying to get to the same place as this, but Scott does a much better job of speaking to a man's heart. Just look at the comments
Even if you're not looking for Father's Day gift advice, watch this video starting at 17:53 (the link should take you there). You might even cry as you think about your Father, and maybe you'll even be want to tell him you love him. Scott is a treasure! youtube.com/watch?v=lmpmv0Ul…
