As reported in the Millennium Post, IIT Madras has launched India’s National Hub for Quantum Communication — the IITM–C-DOT Samgnya Technologies Foundation, marking a major milestone under the National Quantum Mission of the Department of Science & Technology (DST).
Virtually inaugurated by Prof. Abhay Karandikar, Secretary, Department of Science & Technology, the hub has been established at the IIT Madras Research Park to enhance India’s capabilities in quantum-secure communication technologies. The launch took place in the presence of Prof. V. Kamakoti, Director, IIT Madras; Prof. Bhaskar Ramamurthi, Chairman, Hub Governing Board; Prof. Anil Prabhakar, Project Director; and other key stakeholders from academia, industry, and government.
The Foundation will lead national-scale testbeds, pilot deployments, startup support, and global collaborations in quantum communication, while fostering deep-tech innovation, research, and capacity building.
Highlighting India’s potential edge in quantum communications, the event featured live demonstrations of quantum key distribution (QKD) systems and startup-led innovations, reflecting growing momentum towards a secure, future-ready quantum ecosystem.
