As the founder of Gacha, sunsetting Scratch wasn't an easy decision.
Nobody on our team likes shutting down a product we've spent countless hours building. Scratch brought thousands of users on-chain, created memorable moments, and helped us learn what people actually wanted.
But startups survive by adapting.
Over the last few months, it became clear that the bigger opportunity was building a long-term TCG platform. That's where we believe we can create the most value for users, collectors, and the Abstract ecosystem.
The jackpot distribution wasn't about taking value away from users. Quite the opposite. The unwon jackpot was funded from our treasury, and we chose to distribute ~$65k worth of USDC across 13,000 wallets rather than simply keep it.
Could we have made different choices? Sure.
But every decision ultimately came down to one question: what's the best path to build something sustainable that can keep bringing new users on-chain years from now, not just weeks from now?
Not everyone will agree with every decision we make. That's part of building in public.
