This is my second year working with teachers on @italki, and even though I'm a good independent learner, I would never have made this much progress or stayed as motivated without having the ability to also work with great teachers.
@Twitter is way better than threads. I don't see (yet) how there's even a discussion but maybe I missing something. Also, @elonmusk would beat Zuck in a cage match.
I heard someone say threads is like Twitter's chill cousin but I think it's more like an awkward junior high dance with people mumbling (basically to themselves) and shuffling around aimlessly. I'm sure that'll change soon but right now I'm not really getting it.
I just tried a @lingoda lesson (German—though if I'm being honest, I should really be working on resurrecting French), and I love the focus on speaking, even in the orientation lesson.
I just had a conversation in Italian and just forgot everything I've ever learned, seemingly. 🥲 But on the other hand, I clearly remember French because I kept saying things en français.
Hey #langtwt, on the subject of books in various languages: Any recommendations on your favorite online book stores (that ship to USA)? I love @LibreriaPino in SF for Italian books and would love it if they let me set up a direct deposit account with them. 💸
Sometimes I wonder if I enjoy learning languages just because widens the selection of books I can buy (including translations of books I own in English). 😅
While I'm glad that I did a lot of my schooling without undue reliance on technology, I have to say, I would have loved to have had access to something like @NotionHQ when I was in high school.
