Here are the most common practices I've observed among elite ultimate frisbee players: All of them: - Play the highest available ultimate frisbee often - Listen to feedback and implement it quickly - Dedicate time to individual training - Collaborate well with others - Focus on helping the team over chasing stats - Love the game deeply - Maintain a growth mindset - Study game footage to improve strategy and decision-making Some of them: - Are gym rats, live at the track, spend a lot of time throwing, or play a bunch of mini/pickup - Intentional about recovery: spending time away from the ultimate - Cross-train with complementary sports (e.g., basketball, soccer) - Mentor younger players to give back to the community None of them: - Do it by themselves - Have HUGE egos - Neglect the importance of team chemistry - Ignore the mental aspects of the game - Rely solely on natural talent without putting in the work Remember, becoming elite isn't just about physical skills - it's a holistic journey that involves your body, mind, and spirit.
