If Ambassador Nebenzya has something like a conscience, a moral compass, he will now need to hate himself each time he looks into a mirror. This is simply an abominable and unbearably cynical disinformation attempt.
Nebenzya on the investigation into the Bucha provocation:
As you know, April 3rd marked four years since the Bucha provocation, an event that, as numerous experts confirm, bears all the hallmarks of a cynical staged plot. Russia is accused of committing mass atrocities and war crimes related to the killing of civilians in March 2022. Western governments and media immediately blamed Russia, and the incident became the backdrop and turning point that derailed the peace talks in Istanbul.
That's why we've been trying to uncover the truth ever since, because Bucha has become something of a symbol of Russian atrocities in Ukraine. It was clear from the outset that the entire plot was planned by the Kyiv regime, with the support of Western intelligence services, for political purposes. The bodies of civilians were deliberately stacked and scattered only after the entire Russian military had left Bucha.
For almost four days after the withdrawal of Russian troops from Bucha, as a gesture of goodwill at the request of the Kyiv authorities at the time, there was no mention of the dead lying on the main street of that city. For four years now, we have been asking the Secretary-General for help in obtaining a list of the victims of this staged incident. Unfortunately, this has yielded no results.
We received one of those official responses that, frankly, seemed more like a mockery, at least to me. We have seen similar replies many times before, which clearly do not provide substantive answers to the questions we raised. In keeping with his constant practice of double standards, the UN Secretary-General once again limited himself to a standard official response.
