I thought Charlotte FC’s Tim Ream was flawless against Paraguay. As I said in my reasonings for including him in my starting 11, if he’s got cover he’s still a really solid CB. Richards and Freeman paired really well with him and were both brilliant.

Winning 4-1 is impressive against this Paraguay side, but HOW we went about it was just beautiful to watch. Especially in World Cups, it’s rare to enjoy a USA performance outside of just the result. No real control is ever imposed, the scoring chances are far and few inbetween. But today we imposed our game on a solid South American side. We were in the driver’s seat. I hope this isn’t a one off game thing, or even a one off World Cup, I hope this is the beginning of the next evolution of soccer in the States.

Paraguay obviously aren’t the highest level of opposition, but they’re a very capable side, and they generally keep things very tight. To blew them away like that? Seriously, seriously impressive.
