Earlier this week, we reached out to The Shrimps Trust about our plans for the Chelsea away game. Our goals were to enhance the atmosphere and take action against our owners, Bond Group, during the match. Unfortunately, we were told by the Trust that they have taken the decision to only collaborate on actions suggested by non-anonymous Trust members from now on, which haemorrhages our level of collaboration. Because of this, we will be going ahead with our own plans, and we invite the Trust to collaborate with us if they wish to do so. OUR PLANS FOR CHELSEA INCLUDE: - Pre-Match Atmosphere: Meeting in the Earl’s Court area (pubs to be confirmed by authorities at a later date in another post) at 11am to build atmosphere. - March: A large group march from said pub at 1:30pm, ensuring we get to the ground by 2pm. This will solidify what our club is all about, togetherness. - Balloons: Releasing red, black, and white balloons as the players enter the pitch, proudly displaying Morecambe FC’s colours. - ⁠Paint the stand RED: We encourage all fans to proudly wear their red scarves and shirts. - Flag Surfing: Our plan also included surfing the "Playing All The Right Notes Since 1920" flag from left to right of the upper Shed End. Unfortunately, the Trust have decided to not work with us on this. - Turning backs: Turning our backs to the pitch in the 19th and 20th minutes. 3000 Shrimps joining in to highlight our issues with the current ownership in front of 38,000 Chelsea fans. - Banner: Unveiling a banner with a message for Jason Whittingham while turning our backs for the two minutes. We need to raise £500 for this. The 1920Union would like to place on record that we believe The Shrimps Trust was established to represent the voice of fans' opposition. However, we feel they aren’t doing enough for their members and have been difficult to collaborate with. We were told to be ‘Stronger Together’ when we started up as 1920Union. Let’s unite against Bond Group and enjoy our day out in the Big Smoke. We understand this is a special day for many, but it’s crucial to express our views on such a prominent stage.
