Squatted pretty heavy today. 405 × 2 455 × 2 475 × 2 405 × 8 Felt a weird pop in my upper back/neck on rep 8 of the final set. No pain so far, just tightness, but it was enough to make me shut it down. Sometimes the smart move isn’t adding weight, it’s making sure you’re healthy enough to come back and do it again next week. Machine squats might be on the menu for a little while.

Got to lift in two different gyms today. Had to go to Iowa City for my youngest to get his license (long story 😂) Had to go to Delfs (my home gym) for back and chest after traveling the last couple days, then hit Top Shape in Iowa City to finish off the upper body lift 💪.

Deadlifted today. Hit 405 lbs for 10 reps and matched my previous PR. A good friend looked at me and said, “Why not put more on the bar?” So we loaded 410. Ended up pulling 410 lbs for 11 reps. Sometimes all it takes is a little push from the right people. Keep showing up. Keep adding weight. Keep pushing.

10 nice and slow miles this morning followed by a great upper body lift with my oldest.

Leg day got tough today and I freaking love it! Progress is made when the reps get hard and you keep going.

Happy Saturday from Cleveland. Started the day with a 4 mile jog as the sun came up over Lake Erie. Then had a great upper body lift at Kings Gym! Get after it today! 🏃🏽💪

Half marathon #2 ✅ 5K for my wife and daughter. Pretty cool sharing race day with a couple of the people who matter most. Proud of them and grateful for the memories. ❤️

Had a cheat meal last night. I don’t do it often, but had a nice dinner out. Weight up 1.5 lbs this morning. Was planning a rest day but had to put the extra calories and carbs to use, so hit a full body lift. It felt great and the pumps were plentiful! No regrets. Sometimes you have to live a little. Just don’t let it get out of hand. Back on the normal diet today.
