Back then, I had a remote online job. It was going well. Worked there two to three years.
My mom knew about it. She was happy for me.
I wasn't really active again, so they laid me off.
Her birthday came up. I wanted to send her something. But things weren't going well.
I called her. Wished her happy birthday. Asked for her account details.
She sent them. I didn't send the money that day or the next.
I sent it a week later. With a message: "Sorry for the delay. I needed to sort out something before sending it."
She didn't shout, didn't call me names.
She sent a voice note: "My son, if you have things to sort out, face that one. I didn't expect you to overdo yourself, but I know God will bless you."
I listened to the voice note. And smiled.
Another woman would have rained fire.
Anybody can love you when you're winning.
The real test is what happens when the money is low, the opportunities disappear, and life stops being convenient.
The kind of person who stays during that season can change your entire life.
Have you ever had someone stand by you when they had every reason to walk away?
