Kudos to Prof. Alexis Hoag-Fordjour, who will be honored at AALS Annual Meeting next year with 2025 Derrick A. Bell, Jr., Award that recognizes “a junior faculty member who...has made an extraordinary contribution to legal education, one or more legal systems, or social justice.”

Join us at @brooklynlaw tomorrow for this conversation with @profhuq, organized by BLS students from @BLPECollective! @lpe_nyc
Today’s social movements are meeting the existential crises of our time with vision, scale, and infrastructure. They reflect a growing sense that neoliberal law and politics have failed the majority. Join us for a discussion tomorrow. Time: 5pm-6:30PM ALL ARE WELCOME.

New #WeDeserveToBeSafe report shows that NYers in heavily policed neighborhoods want and need a different approach to community safety that invests in community resources—not more policing & criminalization—and holds NYPD accountable for abuse. bit.ly/wdtbsreport

I'm learning so much from this @LPEblog @MovementLawLab symposium. Like when I got to this moment in today's post: "what better way to subjugate people to a specific political and economic order than to dismantle networks of solidarity between individuals and communities?"

Very misleading, by Mayor Adams. The cop AND 3 civilians shot & injured *by NYPD*. 1 bystander reportedly shot in the head. Injuries are from cops shooting recklessly on crowded subway, in pursuit of someone they say didn't pay $2.90 fare. These NYPD actions make us less safe.
Earlier today, one of our officers was shot while protecting our subway system. I am relieved to report he is in good condition now, and we have arrested the suspect who put so many lives in danger. I cannot thank these officers enough for their bravery.
Community note
The police officer was shot by another officer while apprehending a suspected fare dodger. The shooting occurred after the fare dodger advanced on police with a knife and attempts to taser the suspect had failed t.co/ev419iljZW

Thank you @dnbrgr for this beautiful review of my & @orisanmi's books! "Yesterday’s tactics are unlikely to secure tomorrow’s victories. The past offers an orientation, not an instruction manual, and successful struggle often requires an improvisational response to the moment."
Replying to @markkrotov
In reviews, @dnbrgr reviews @orisanmi’s Tip of the Spear and @j_simonson’s Radical Acts of Justice, bringing together an account of prison revolts and their aftermaths and the recent wave of anticarceral organizing. An extremely useful, clarifying piece. nplusonemag.com/issue-48/rev…
