One of the students I support as a Learning Support teacher for two blocks a day was only available for a few minutes. So we had a plank (push up position) contest. He is a very athletic grade 7. I put "Industry Baby" on and we both lasted for 2 minutes and 13 seconds. Ooof!
One of my good friends is walking the pilgrimage route in Spain. Because she doesn't speak a lot of Spanish (though she is trying) she finds it hard to buy food. One vendor questioned why she would even come to Spain if she was not fluent. I am baffled.
I showed about 100 students today how to use Minecraft to study First People's ways of knowing and being. I also showed students how to use Immersive Reader inside the game. One student used Immersive Reader to change language to Russian, their first language.
When I taught junior science I never understood Electric Potential really well. I asked Bing Ai to make an analogy comparing EP to a bucket of water. Now I understand better. It read the analogy out to me while I was on my commute (hands free). That's better.
The average age of a person in Canada is 42. I wonder what that will mean for our economy? I will need to retire someday. What can I do now to make sure hst when I leave the workforce the economy can support my generation in retirement?

What do our teachers, our parents and families think about Trades in schools? Is one kind of message going out, but a very different message happening in offices, classrooms, or around the dinner table?
I think if more kids go into trades they might have careers less likely to be negatively impacted by AI, and could find their way into more modern industries afterwards, like making a moon base or a machine that cleans waste water for less energy.
My good friend Brent is a skilled plumber and gas fitter. He is working on a hospital in Vancouver and are short 300 plumbers. It is not that they need a total of 300 plumbers, they need 300 more. I would like to see more trades at middle school in BC.
Staff vs Students dodgeball game today. I was walking around the halls calling out "Where my victims at?" I am playing my walk out song on my phone as I cruise the halls.
As we wrap up our Animal Adaptations project, and as kids wait for me to interview them, many kids are beginning to use code skills to escape a spooky mansion. youtube.com/watch?v=100tW_NO… . This makes me wonder if we could use escape room questions to study for a test? #mieexpert
Today I am thinking about how I can employ more first people's teaching methods in my classroom. I will have some kids watch an interview of skilled learners on the strategy of "Making Connections" to new science vocabulary. Learning by peer modelling.
I will introduce my kid to the Bee Gee's. Musically, they did things differently, and I think that disco could be something that the youth of today might enjoy. When cooking in the kitchen and sweltering in the heat, I was playing this: open.spotify.com/track/0qemI…

My dad's aftershave was "Hai Karate". I smelled it when I hugged him before he went off to work. I still have my dad, and I am grateful, and I wonder if I could find that aftershave today? I don't seem to be able to find it. What were your childhood smells?
Today I am going to reorganize my assessment strategy of my next STEAM project to be more in keeping with First Nations practices that I learned about on Friday. My kids will reflect as a group on their learnings and each other's strengths. #edchat
