in they era u had to actually prove yourself & sell real hard copies. the way music was consumed & valued was way different on they come up. that breeds a different type of work ethic for an artist. 1 album sale is literally like 1500 streams today, the literal value of music isn’t the same to listeners today. you get ALL THE MUSIC IN THE WORLD for $12 a month, bruh that was the price of 1 ALBUM back then. the listener had higher standards back then now you just need 12 seconds of ya song to hit on tiktok & even after that niggas not checking for u. the consumer changed so artists work ethic changed . the WHOLE GAME changed. for better or for worse idk , but that’s jus where shit evolved
