So proud to release this beautiful and devastating project in collaboration with the @colibricenter. For 30 years, US border policies have killed and led to the disappearance of tens of thousands of mostly Indigenous, Brown, and Black people. It's time for a new approach.

People migrating to the US have increasingly died or disappeared while traversing the treacherous US-Mexico land border. 30 years ago, the US government launched Prevention Through Deterrence, with policies explicitly aimed at forcing irregular migrants onto "hostile terrain."

I worked these last few days on this report that demonstrates the Mexican strategy for immigration control: tiring migrants and squeezing their money. With @meganjanetsky on the ground and @verzamex from Mexico City for @AP. apnews.com/article/mexico-im…

For Velquiz Garcia, these surplus sweet potatoes and apples recovered from farms in Honduras are #MoreThanFood. They are a catalyst for a family’s generational health in a country where 19% of the population is undernourished. #WorldHungerDay @BAH_Honduras

One thing Biden is doing that Trump DID NOT do in his asylum ban: the admin. is making it HARDER for asylum-seekers from having the chance to enter the U.S. and get lesser forms of protection in court after being denied asylum.

On the day of this border announcement, also worth noting the Biden admin also continues to fight families separated by Trump in court over restitution and has held exactly zero people accountable for the policy Biden himself called “criminal.”

Trump is fighting tooth & nail to deny those fleeing dangerous situations their right to seek asylum in our nation. We should uphold our moral responsibility & enforce our immigration laws with dignity—not turn away those fleeing violence, war, & poverty. nbcnews.com/news/us-news/fed…

Earlier this year, I got to travel to Tegucigalpa to see how @BAH_Honduras rescues surplus produce from farms and delivers it to some of the most marginalized communities in the city, with @foodbanking's support. See how it works here: youtube.com/watch?v=WTfyswry…
