Pleased to see HM Govt is keeping up momentum on my Clinical Trials Review, including the ‘double-doubling’ ambition.
MHRA is performing much better, moving to a national approach to contracting and costing, and the number of industry-sponsored trials in the UK is growing again.

I love my job but today was hard: telling a patient who will die of his cancer that I can’t offer a promising clinical trial because an amendment has been stuck with the MHRA since March. This is not good enough and I wonder if my MP would like to come to my clinic and explain?

...as UK is currently an outlier in spending loads on secondary care (treating the sick), but much less than peers on primary/preventive care (keeping people healthy) and social care (freeing up hospital resources and reducing risk of repeat admissions among elderly)
