the benedict taco at taco joint is like something the torchy’s trailer would do as a monthly special in 2010

this tedious affectation should be rebranded as an exclusively coastal phenomenon because you can very easily move to austin and start calling yourself an austinite the same day, nobody cares, and it’s even funnier to imagine some yankee pervert getting mad about you doing it
You have to be born in New York to be a New Yorker!! @JLo

are people gatekeeping taqueria jessica or is north austin so uncool that nobody’s realized it’s a time portal to pre-2020 taco prices and they’re even making their own corn tortillas back there? had lunch yesterday and the whole time was just going like hold on. hold on now.

the single greatest antidote to pessimism about austin’s political leadership is simply following news coverage of other large texas city governments
SAN ANTONIO NEWS: Mayor Jones hires TikTok realtor MarkAnthony Ball to help with her public image. The hiring comes after a month of bad press and political missteps for Jones, whose been in office less than a year. Full story 👇 via @SAcurrent.

north loop is the most frightening part of this map because of all the surly townies hanging out at workhorse bar
You just won a 2-week, all-expenses-paid vacation to my increasingly sketchy area of Austin. But there’s a catch: you have to stay within one region the whole time. What are you picking?

More green space coming to the Domain. A site plan was filed today for "the demolition of the existing commercial building [Domain 4, 11500 Alterra Parkway] and revegetating the existing area as open space." Domain 4 is a large one-story office building built in 2001. Cousins owns the property.

this kind of insane opinion makes so much more sense when you realize they’re talking about like, plano rather than anywhere recognizable as “dallas”
It caught me by surprise moving here from Dallas. Austin feels far less safe.

the fairmont’s parking podium is so hostile at the street level that for years it was improved, at least in my mind, by a hilariously large grease stain running down the side from a kitchen exhaust vent but unfortunately at some point they got wise and started power washing it
Unpopular opinion: Austin is already a tier 1 and people just haven’t realized it yet At least two reasons in this photo

Washington unanimously legalized scissor stairs, a building code reform that frees up to 56% more living space per floor. Less wasted space means cheaper homes on smaller lots. Most US states banned this since the 1970s for no good reason.

Austin is moving to annex the 4-square-mile Dog's Head "mega-site" on the Colorado River north of the airport, would support new mixed-use development there under 45-year agreement Project could generate billions in property taxes, includes affordable housing and new trail/parks
