Poor sleep, social isolation, and lack of exercise can all raise dementia risk—but research shows that healthy lifestyle changes could prevent up to 45% of cases worldwide. In this episode of Defy Dementia, hosts @JayIngram and Dr. @asek47 put these findings to the test, sharing their own brain-healthy resolutions—the wins, struggles, and lessons learned along the way. They also report back on the latest brain health news, some from the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference 2025, including the latest info on drug trials, early detection blood tests, a major lifestyle study, and surprising links between dementia and factors like lithium, wildfire smoke exposure, and the shingles vaccine.

Vision is more than what we see; it’s how we engage with the world. In the latest Defy Dementia podcast episode, co-hosts Dr. Allison Sekuler and Jay Ingram explore the powerful connection between vision loss and brain health, and how untreated eye conditions can increase the risk of cognitive decline. This episode features the story of Walter Kuntz, a 78-year-old retired Canada Post worker, who recounts his experience with cataracts, eye surgery, and regaining his independence. We also hear from Dr. Walter Wittich, Québec’s first Certified Low Vision Therapist, who breaks down the science of the vision-brain health connection and shares practical steps to protect both your sight and cognitive function. 🎧 Listen now at defydementia.org or wherever you get your podcasts. #defydementia #brainhealth #visionhealth

The Trump strategy of throwing out plans and ideas so fast no one can keep up is exactly the same strategy as the 13 and 17 year cicadas: if there’s enough, although many are lost, a good number survive
