Spring Break starts with a W!
The Wheaton baseball team defeats Concordia University Wisconsin in the first game of today's doubleheader to begin its week in Arizona.
Trailing 5-2 after five innings, the Thunder outscored the Falcons, 9-2, over the last two frames to secure their second victory of the season.
JD Van Hook (pictured) earned the save this afternoon by allowing no hits and no earned runs in the final two innings while logging a bases-loaded strikeout to clinch the win.
Tyler Burr led all players with three hits and posted two RBI and one run. He was joined on two RBI and one score by Will Clegg, and Caleb Schauer hit a solo home run in the seventh inning to help seal Wheaton's comeback. Sean Dmytrowicz, James Scott, and Mason Diel each tallied a pair of hits, with the former scoring twice and stealing the team's only base.
The Thunder continue their Tucson slate on Monday morning with a single game against Bethany Lutheran College. That contest will begin at 12 PM Central Time, and a live stats link for each of the team's Spring Break games can be found on the Wheaton Athletics website.
