This also! Post about your music AA much as you want bc you really love your own music, but advertising it bc you “have to” when u don’t want to is just meaningless
Replying to @jedwill
ive learned that you do need to be consistent so ppl are reminded of u but if the things you post arent things you actually care for, others wont either and theyll get annoyed/itll be a giant waste of time

To add onto this, even if you get one song to blow up, do you want ppl at your shows bc they know your one hit or bc youre a good performer not worth missing? Which one do you think will lead to longevity?
I hear this take a lot and it simply isn’t true, your audience wants you to connect with them not advertise to them. You are gonna burn out making ads everyday and annoy your audience. Post the things YOU like and everything you NEED will follow

I cannot stress enough how much more important it is that ppl come to your show and buy your merch than it is that you get new listeners on Spotify. Those real life fans will do all your posting for you cuz they love you, we gotta knock this desperate shit off

Fuck constantly advertising yourself as an artist, I’ve been replying to kingdom hearts posts all week and my engagement is higher than it would’ve been if I tried to tell you to stream my music

main lesson ive learned is everything requires context. Songs can b brought 2 life depending on how u present. Skism does mashups and transitions that bring out a tracks best aspects and it’s tricked me many times into liking the DJ mix version of a track more than the original

What lessons have you learned from him that you would liketo share with us? I need as much help as I can get.

These are lessons ive picked up just studying mixing styles but skism makes this shit very clear bc he consistently mixes this ambitiously, like he’s HUNGRY every time he makes a mix and doesn’t wanna waste your time every time you hear a new one.

He’ll find new context for tracks hes played before just to keep things fresh and each time theres so much care about making it sound new and not just fan servicing by playing it on its own just bc ppl like it

Skism is such a good DJ that I apply his mixing principles and the way he paces his sets to every genre when I DJ, not just dubstep
