We are a Public Benefit Organization working at the critical intersection of climate adaptation and disaster risk management in Kenya's North Rift region.
Our cutting-edge #RootsForResilience program is a community-led initiative in the vulnerable Elgeyo Marakwet escarpment, tackling the urgent challenges of #LandDegradation and increasing #landslide risks. By empowering local groups to cultivate value-based tree nurseries and adopt sustainable practices, the program aims to both heal the fragile ecosystem and foster long-term economic stability. Through initiatives like value-based seed production and conservation advocacy, #RootsForResilience is building a foundation for a safer, greener, and more prosperous future, driven by the strength and determination of the community itself.
Kimengech Natural Forest is a protected indigenous forest located in Elgeyo Marakwet County, Kenya. It forms part of the complex ecosystem along the Elgeyo escarpment, contributing to water regulation, biodiversity, and community livelihoods through sustainable forest management
Today, visited the CFA’s tree nursery, where we were inspired by the incredible work being led by women and youth in nurturing new life for the forest. Their dedication is a powerful reminder that restoration is both a community effort and a generational responsibility.
We explored ways to strengthen the eco-tourism component within the CFA, through our Forest Whisperers Movement. These engagements continue to shape pathways for deeper connection, sustainable livelihoods, and community-led conservation.
Building Back Better is not a one-time event; it is a continuous, community-led journey.
In Marakwet, we are walking this journey together with communities, elders, and partners.
Join us as we continue to engage, learn, and act together.

Listening, learning, and uncovering the root causes of the landslide that took away lives November last year in Chesongoch, so that the solutions we build are truly sustainable.
This video captures the beginning of that process, where local voices are leading the conversation on resilience, land use, and the future of our communities.
When communities lead, solutions last.
Our discussion took us back to the November 5th landslide that took lives and buried homes. We counted the losses. But there is something we didn’t count. The women who lost their food stores.
The girls whose education was disrupted. The mothers carrying the burden of rebuilding families. Climate disasters are not gender neutral. As we mark #IWD2026, we must ensure women are not just victims of climate change, but leaders in climate solutions.
Introducing the Forest Whisperers Movement
Today, we are excited to introduce the Forest Whisperers Movement, a community of people committed to nurturing a deeper, more intentional relationship with Nature.

We believe Nature speaks. And when Nature speaks, we grow.
But between Nature speaking and us growing, there must be intentional action.
That is what the Forest Whisperers Movement is about.
We will have Guided Nature Walks, Immersive Forest Bathing experiences, Intergenerational conversations and tree growing.
This is not just about conservation.
It is about connection. It is about cultivating a culture were environmental care flows from relationship, not obligation
