When we were kids we sang “Nobody likes me, everybody hates me, I’m gonna eat worms.” Paul said even if it seems everybody is against you, God is for you. And if God is for you, no one can stand against you because nobody can stand against Him. You can take that to the bank!

Notice that God told Isaiah when these things occur that He would right there with him, not if these things would occur. Life happens, difficult things come your way, but God is faithful, He will be with you if you only trust in Him!

I love you! Easy to say; rolls right off your tongue; but what does it really mean? Read this verse and ask yourself if that is what you mean when you tell someone you love them. True, biblical love is grounded in loving like Jesus, who gave His very life for us. Love like Jesus!

You can be as smart as a whip or as dumb as a doorknob and still not be wise. Wisdom begins with acceptance of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, studying and obeying His written word, and asking God to make you wise and He will, just as James says here.

Have you ever gotten impatient and in a hurry and as a result made a terrible decision? Take all your decisions, great and small, to the Lord in prayer, then wait on Him for guidance. Getting out in front of the Lord is not a good place to be!

Jesus proclaims a special blessing on those who are persecuted because of standing up for Him. We have seldom faced persecution for our faith in the USA, but I firmly believe that is changing. Stand strong for Jesus and He will stand strong for you!

Jesus proclaimed a special blessing on those who seek peace. When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior, He gives you peace with God and the peace of God so that you are no longer enemies of God and so that you can live at peace with others as much as it is possible.

Jesus proclaims a blessing on those with a pure heart. But the Bible says our hearts are wicked and deceitful. So what gives? God does: He takes our wicked, deceitful hearts and replaces them with new hearts filled with love, grace and mercy that are gifts to those who believe!

There is no better evidence that you are a child of God than showing mercy to others. At the cross you were shown great mercy, mercy you didn’t deserve, but that’s what mercy is all about. So, in response to the mercy you have and are being shown, go and be merciful to others!

Have you ever been so hungry or thirsty that you would do or give almost anything for something to eat or drink? Jesus is here describing the person who is so feed up with their sinfulness that they would give or do anything to live a righteous life. Jesus honors that request!

Oswald Chambers said humility wasn’t think less of yourself but thinking of yourself less. Being humble is not a character trait the world promotes, but in God’s kingdom it is at the top of the list! Be like Jesus; be humble and kind!

We often look at this verse for comfort when someone we love dies. There’s another dimension to this verse: when we look at the great suffering and sacrifice of our Lord Jesus and consider how far we fall short of living a life that honors Him, we mourn, and we are comforted.

Are you born again but humbled that Jesus died for your sins? Do you realize you didn’t deserve such grace and mercy? Do you pray crying “Lord have mercy on me a sinner?” If that is you, then rest assured you are one of the poor in spirit and the kingdom of heaven is yours!

Down in the dumps today? Put your hope in God: He loves you and desires the very best for you. His hope is sure; His promises are all yes and amen! Praise His wonderful name. He will lift you up and set your feet on higher ground!

Christian friends, I don’t know what you’re going through today; don’t know how difficult life might be for you; don’t know how weak and helpless you’re feeling. But, I do know this: God’s grace is sufficient for you. Cast your cares on Him because He cares for you!

Do you remember Dudley Doright? Well, God expects His children to do right and Isaiah spells out what doing right encompasses. Read this and imagine what our world would look like if everyone put this one verse into practice. Christian friends - Do Right!

These are some of the last words Jesus spoke to His disciples before His death on the cross. He wanted them to flourish and bear fruit for His kingdom. To do that they must remain in Him. How about you my friends, are you living in Christ, bearing fruit for His kingdom?

God has given us so much and has blessed us in so many ways! There is no way we could ever repay Him but He doesn’t expect us to. He does, however, expect us to give to others with a cheerful and grateful heart, motivated by love for Him.

My Mother used to tell me I needed an attitude adjustment; usually when I was making life all about myself and what I wanted. Jesus, even though fully God, humbled Himself to the point of dying on a cross so that we might live. Lord, help me have an attitude like Christ!
