Yesterday, I attended the ‘Dining for Dignity’ event with @brumshospice. I heard inspiring stories shared by patients, their families and hospice staff about the exceptional palliative and end-of-life care provided by hospice's. Truly heart-warming and commendable work!

Hospices, such as @jthospice in Erdington, provide vital care to hundreds of thousands of people every year. Sadly, they face serious financial challenges. As a nurse, it breaks my heart to see our NHS in the worst state it has ever been. Watch in full: youtu.be/Go0G2R0LtjM

At the @CommonsHealth topical session, I asked the CEO of @hospiceuk what more can be done to help fund hospices in poorer areas. Hospices provide invaluable care to terminally ill patients & they often struggle to raise the necessary funds to continue their compassionate work.

⚠️ Hospice funding needs attention. A new report by a cross party group of MPs found that the postcode lottery of hospice funding means services they provide for dying people and their families, and the support they provide to the health system, are at risk.

Hospices are facing a funding crisis. We're calling on the government to do more to ensure that hospices are properly funded, so that we can continue to provide expert palliative and end of life care for all local people who need it. Find out more 👉 ow.ly/9reT50QtfQC

'Hospices are facing a perfect storm, income from fundraising is falling, while cost and demand for their services are rising.' @simonjamesjupp is right. We need fairer funding for hospices, it's getting critical. @Hospiscare
