Update from the Killing Fields of Sudan:
Maternity hospital massacre leaves 460 dead as patients and staff are butchered; 2,000 civilians were executed in two days. UN resolutions: zero. Protesters in London: couple of dozen. Coverage of Sudan carnage in media: minimal.

The ignored and brutal civil war in Sudan, which has already claimed 150,00 lives and displaced millions, has now taken an even more terrible turn in El Fashir, under siege and suffering famine.
RSF rebels have captured the city, triggering the panicked flight of its remaining starving civilians.
The victorious militias, which are predominantly ethnically Arab, have gone on a barbaric killing rampage of the local non-Arab population.
The violence echoes the genocidal slaughters carried out by the Janjaweed militia — the RSF’s predecessor — in Darfur two decades ago.

With great sorrow I am following the tragic news coming from #Sudan. Indiscriminate violence against women and children, attacks on unarmed civilians, and serious obstacles to humanitarian aid are causing unbearable suffering. May we #PrayTogether that the Lord may receive the deceased with his embrace, strengthen those who are suffering, and move the hearts of those responsible. I renew my heartfelt appeal to all parties involved to agree to a ceasefire and to urgently open humanitarian corridors. Finally, I call on the international community to act with determination and generosity.

When I taught, I had two rules in my classroom.
1) Do your best
2) Don’t stop anyone else from learning.
Obviously, unpacking them leads to loads more - but it was so simple for the children and very easy to remind them of if they needed it.
