CEO Michael Schöllhorn faced the fury of the chancellory for suggesting a Germany First alternative. At the opening of the Berlin air Show he felt misunderstood:
"To be clear, and I direct my words to the journalists here, we do not favor Germany going it alone. We think European. But we want German industry to have a central role."

During a patrol over the Aisne, 26-year old Sergeant-Chef François Morel shoots down a Heinkel 111.
As the German bomber spirals down, Morel is seen to parachute from his Curtiss H-75. A machine-gun bullet has gone through the windshield and hit the French pilot in the head.
He dies shortly after hitting the ground.
Within the space of eight days, Morel had shot down 12 enemy aircraft.

There was a brief window in time when the RAF were up for capturing great images - I can't recall how I was asked but I found myself in the back of a Hawk with a @Hasselblad strapped to a Pod - I only had 12 frames so it was a bit of luck to get the image - Fox 2 or 3

Another post-war marvel. The 1946 Lockheed R6V Constitution (XR6O-1) was the largest fixed-wing aircraft ever operated by the US Navy it had a 189-ft wingspan and a double-decker pressurized fuselage. Only two prototypes flew. It was also tested with six JATO rockets mounted in the wing roots—shortened takeoff run by 24-25% at full gross weight, making it the largest aircraft ever to use JATO. Underpowered R-4360 engines cooling problems cut range/payload; retired 1953 with no airline buyers. One became a Vegas billboard; both scrapped. Innovative design flop despite influencing Boeing C-97.😎
