AI engineering is 70% data, 20% architecture, 10% models.
Everyone obsesses over which model to use.
Almost nobody asks:
- Is the data clean?
- Is it structured?
- Is it versioned?
- Is it secure?
- Is it even relevant?
The model is the easy part.

Most AI tools fail because they’re built for demos, not workflows.
They look great in a 2-minute video, then collapse under real usage.
Real value isn’t “wow, it works once.”
It’s boring things like retries, evals, permissions, logging, and fitting into how people already work.
