I visited 11 villages already in the island of Bougainville,PNG,researching community adaptation to climate change and globalisation. I'll start a thread to give voice to these people so exposed to the damage of global warming, and so dignified in their response. 1/

The truth is that unless we rapidly reorganize society to center around the collective instead of the individual, we will continue to completely fail at dealing with global crises like COVID and climate change.

So with #COP26 done and 1.5 degrees on life support, what kind of climate activism do we need from here on out? For some leading activists, the answer seems to be: more of the same. More shouting, more civil disobedience, more marches in the streets. And perhaps they’re right.

Why developing domestic wine tourism is a sensible option? Our study shows that domestic wine tourists spent 2 times more at cellar doors but incurred less carbon emissions than international visitors. See our study at doi.org/10.1080/09669582.202…

We are realists. Flying less is not pessimism. We love reading about the electric flight trials. And about efficient wing airflow. But it would be unrealistic to say technology alone, with no change in number of flights, can deliver rapid reductions in jet fuel burn.
