Help me accept the things I cannot change

Recuerdo haber llegado a Chile en Agosto de 1983 ( en plena dictadura) después de 10 años en el extranjero, ir a la Catedral a misa y encontrarme con comunistas que conocía ,rezando el Padre Nuestro. El discurso del Papa recoge una mayoría de las banderas sociales de la izquierda, incluídas banderas comunistas, pero discrepa y contradice a la izquierda en los temas de la vida y la muerte. La defensa de los derechos humanos para la Iglesia Católica incluyen la defensa de la vida desde la concepción y de la muerte natural. El Cardenal Silva habia acogido,sin embargo, a los comunistas durante la dictadura, defendiendo el derecho a la vida, el derecho a su vida. Hoy el Papa en España defiende el derecho a la paz social y política llamando a las élites a no olvidar al prójimo. La Iglesia católica participó abiertamente en la lucha contra la dictadura, y ahora lo está haciendo contra el populismo y la extrema derecha. El número de personas que se declaran católicas ha disminuido en América Latina, pero sigue siendo mayoritaria.
