Rough day. Heard tonight one of my best ex-students, one of the original 6th formers who helped run the STEM club, has died. He was just starting his 3rd year of uni. He was amazing, we were convinced he’d be the one to go out and change the world. Sleep well & God bless buddy.

For those who say gun laws don’t work. Today, the school where I work was raided by a very angry man armed with his fists. One door was kicked in, 2 teachers punched, big police presence. Lockdown 2 1/2 hours.

When he was 6, my eldest son sent his imaginary friend, Clarence, to Nepal with me while I was working for a charity. When I got back he was inconsolable because apparently Clarence died while we were away! Why couldn’t he just retire his imaginary friend like everyone else?

It might be an unpopular view these days but I think I’d rather have a monarch than an elected leader. If I’m going for surgery, I’d rather have a doctor who’s studied most of their life to know what they’re doing rather than someone who’s good at making promises they can’t keep.
