very similar situations handling termination grievances. employers offer settlements that are cruel and demeaning compared to what a worker's owed, but people need wages to live, or their citizenship depends on employment, so they leap to accept the punishment

yesterday i had a membership meeting where members' stories had me staring at the horrors of the past like
ALT A picture of the painting "Angel Novelus" by Paul Klee. The painting is referenced by Walter Benjamin in "Theses on the Philosophy of History" where the angel of history is trapped staring at a mountain of suffering that is the past. The angel is trapped by a storm wind carrying it farther and farther away from the past, which it wants to reach out and heal, but cannot reach. The storm wind carrying the angel away, according to Benjamin, is what our world calls progress.

the most exciting parts of my union work are when i get to revise survey templates and update charts and lists. the really great days are when i drive several hours on a weekend to have the same conversation over and over with (if i'm lucky) ten strangers.

it seems entirely possible to take the structure of a copaganda show and instead make it about shop stewards/reps handling grievances. can get all kinds of different plots out of the protag just being overworked and assigned to too many different bargaining units.

another couldn't make any progress in their dept, was dejected, then a coworker went along with them and they came back with a few and a smile
