What fascinates me about modern search is how quickly the language of discovery is changing.
People are moving beyond keywords and expressing intent through images, natural language, and context. Amazon’s AI image generator is an interesting example.
The opportunity is huge, but trust will be critical. Customers need confidence that AI-generated experiences connect to real products and real outcomes.

AI agents won't just change shopping.
They'll change how shopping experiences are built.
As consumers delegate more discovery and evaluation to software, brands will need to optimize for both agents and people.

Most AI retail conversations focus on efficiency and convenience, which win in many categories.
However, Luxury demands trust, nuance, and emotion.
The systems that succeed will need to deliver both efficiency and human understanding.

I’m watching how AI is changing shopping behavior.
By the time many customers reach a retailer, AI has already helped them research, compare, and narrow their options.
That makes relevance more important than ever. When intent is high, there’s far less room for friction.

One thing I’m watching closely is how AI-powered discovery is helping customers make decisions faster.
Gémo achieved 2.3x conversion growth and attributes one-third of digital revenue to AI-powered discovery.
A strong reminder that relevance drives results.

AI referrals are changing customer expectations.
Less browsing. More intent. Higher expectations.
As AI handles more discovery upfront, the margin for error gets smaller.
Bad recommendations lose customers.

I’ve learned that poor search impacts revenue faster than most companies expect... Slow results, weak relevance, & search that misses intent all create friction customers notice immediately. We built the Algolia Search Grader to help identify those gaps: algolia.com/ai-search-grader…
This stat caught my attention: ChatGPT-referred ecommerce visits convert at 11.4% versus 5.3% for organic search.
AI is a part of the discovery journey, helping consumers narrow choices and build confidence before they ever reach a brand’s website.

I’m seeing AI investment move quickly from experimentation into operational deployment. The challenge now is building the infrastructure, retrieval systems, & connections that make AI useful in real workflows.
Context & relevance matter more than ever.

Amazon’s reported “hybrid mode” approach highlights where AI shopping is heading: Some tasks need speed. Others need guidance. The advantage will come from understanding intent and adapting the experience accordingly.

AI adoption is now developer-led, and that changes the competitive dynamic.
The advantage isn’t just scale anymore; it’s iteration velocity.
The teams that build, test, and adapt faster will move ahead faster.

Agents are getting more capable faster than organizations can operationalize them.
The bottleneck is shifting from model capability to reliability, governance, and orchestration.
That’s where the real work starts.

AI in CX isn’t universally necessary. It needs purpose. Trust depends on the situation. Users may trust recommendations, but not decisions.
We need to add AI thoughtfully to build trust and deliver impactful CX. via @cxdive: customerexperiencedive.com/n…
