The absolute priority of the UK Government is protecting the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and the institutions that spring from it. As @SpeakerPelosi knows we seek an ambitious FTA with the US. But there can be no connection between that and doing the right thing for NI. None.

An unfortunate reminder that onshore RAS salmon farming is not the silver bullet that environmentalists & investors think. Carefully regulated offshore farming, especially in high energy sites, is far lower risk.

So @UtilityregCRU, I took time out last week to exercise my consumer rights (aka "update your energy provider annually or get ripped off"). I am inundated with life's admin so wanted a simple fix. And look at the great @energiaenerg savings! (BUT!....) / 1

Well …after a call to the @EnergiaEnergy call centre I ascertained that I failed to notice "I have a promo code" linked above the highlighted "Next" button (see step 2 above), to re-enter the promo code I already clicked on the same screen. A €300-€400 failing, be warned! /4

Orkney is a real bright spot for salmon farming. An offshore archipelago surrounded by waves and currents. No sea lice here. Great farmers, supply chain and marine test facilities. Thanks to @scotseafarms @CookeScotland @leaskmarine and @EMEC_Ltd for hosting me.

It is nice to be back home in Skerries! Looking out on the Irish Sea on a beautiful winter's morning, I can't help but think that 3 or 4 km off our beaches are deep, high energy dispersion sites for clean, sustainable fish production - invisible from shore.

The Scottish and Irish coasts are great places for sustainable salmon production, especially at more exposed locations ....but new farm system solutions like ours will be needed to do it competitively, safely and without risk of more escapes.
