Conor, can you just switch off this bloody trilemma-go-round please? I think I'm going to vomit. (The switch is right there in the cabinet office btw). Good man yourself. @DavidHenigUK
The absolute priority of the UK Government is protecting the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and the institutions that spring from it. As @SpeakerPelosi knows we seek an ambitious FTA with the US. But there can be no connection between that and doing the right thing for NI. None.

Great News!

Impact-9 is delighted to have been selected by @seafoodfund to undertake a Feasibility Study for our offshore aquaculture solutions in UK waters and develop a commercialisation plan for the UK market.

This is a very important thread on COVID, I suspect. Government must clarify their understanding of false positives and how they plan to allow for this in crucial policy decisions.

Study finds offshore aquaculture has low environmental impact and "that any impacts from offshore fish farming are minimal compared to all other forms of animal protein production for human consumption" news.miami.edu/rsmas/stories… @BordIascMhara @SSPOsays @hatchblue1 @agriculture_ie

An unfortunate reminder that onshore RAS salmon farming is not the silver bullet that environmentalists & investors think. Carefully regulated offshore farming, especially in high energy sites, is far lower risk. intrafish.com/aquaculture/th… @hatchblue1 @BordIascMhara @greenparty_ie

So @UtilityregCRU, I took time out last week to exercise my consumer rights (aka "update your energy provider annually or get ripped off"). I am inundated with life's admin so wanted a simple fix. And look at the great @energiaenerg savings! (BUT!....) / 1

Well …after a call to the @EnergiaEnergy call centre I ascertained that I failed to notice "I have a promo code" linked above the highlighted "Next" button (see step 2 above), to re-enter the promo code I already clicked on the same screen. A €300-€400 failing, be warned! /4

Nice one @EnergiaEnergy - You nearly got me. I was going to alert @UtilityregCRU until I saw their "simple" complaints procedure. So I did this instead. What a complete waste of time and money the whole business is. Welcome to under-regulated hell. Next week Health Insurance! /5

When it comes to developing new structures for offshore aquaculture, should we look to the oil and gas sector or the offshore marine energy sector for inspiration? linkedin.com/feed/update/urn… @hatchblue1 @SSPOsays @BordIascMhara

Orkney is a real bright spot for salmon farming. An offshore archipelago surrounded by waves and currents. No sea lice here. Great farmers, supply chain and marine test facilities. Thanks to @scotseafarms @CookeScotland @leaskmarine and @EMEC_Ltd for hosting me.

I have always prioritised the green agenda in my engineering career and business decisions - which makes this particularly disappointing!

Ireland's Green Party election manifesto contains a huge green blunder when it comes to salmon farming. linkedin.com/posts/jfitzg_hi… @joefingalgreen @greenparty_ie

It is nice to be back home in Skerries! Looking out on the Irish Sea on a beautiful winter's morning, I can't help but think that 3 or 4 km off our beaches are deep, high energy dispersion sites for clean, sustainable fish production - invisible from shore.

The Scottish and Irish coasts are great places for sustainable salmon production, especially at more exposed locations ....but new farm system solutions like ours will be needed to do it competitively, safely and without risk of more escapes. fishfarmingexpert.com/articl…
