I've come to really appreciate the line "Do I contradict myself? Very well then, I contradict myself." (From the famous multitudes poem) Rather than viewing it as a bad thing, noticing a contradiction is a chance to recognize growth or inch towards greater self-awareness

A lesson I'm starting to internalize is that opportunity cost is most dangerous when it's a hidden cost. Everyone intuitively knows a dollar spent on X cannot be spent on Y. It's factored in. But in many areas it's unknown, e.g. investment of time and energy. These are so dangerous because the upside could be enormous, but our nature is to ignore that in the face of uncertainty.

I'm noticing that for me LLMs are either a thought partner or thought replacement, rarely anything in between. At any given moment it's either making me smarter or dumber. My choice.

The idea that UIs will be generated on the fly seems to me to be the classic case of a solution in search of a problem. I get it's cool that it's even possible, but how would an improvised UI beat a thoughtfully designed one? The latter has the benefit of the same AI human review and time (analytics, trial and error, etc.).

I'm trying to understand ASI / Ilya's plan. They're going to just tinker away until they create AGI and release it one day? No iterations or users needed? Have to respect the insane level of confidence that path would require. But it's hard to believe it's possible
