Human rights activist & advocate for ordered liberty via nonviolence. Recalling: Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.-George Santayana
Thank you Lord @DavidAltonHL for raising the issue of human rights violations in Cuba, and the lack of access of the @ICRC to Cuban prisons since 1989.
I raised the appalling violation of human rights in Cuba. Asked Ministers to press the regime to allow access to Cuba’s prisons by the International Committee of the Red Cross - where journalists, pro democracy and labour rights activists are jailed. I urged support for the groups like the courageous Ladies in White.
#OTD in 1928 the mass murderer Ernesto Che Guevara was born. An innocent child who grew into a plague. Shamefully, institutions like @UNESCO, not only pay homage to this brutal, racist & homophobic mass killer. They also spread his toxic and murderous ideas. #BirthOfAMonster

We are saddened by the passing of Allen Paul, distinguished author, journalist, and friend of Poland.
His groundbreaking work on the Katyn Massacre helped bring the truth about this Soviet crime to audiences around the world and ensured that the victims would never be forgotten.
On June 13th, 2017, after being held for 17 months for "subversion" in North Korea, Otto Warmbier was returned to the US in an unresponsive state with significant brain damage, a condition the North Koreans had concealed for over a year. He died six days later.
In Kyiv, a new opera is tackling one of the most traumatising aspects of Russia’s invasion: the abduction of Ukrainian children. In the new work called “Mothers of Kherson”, music tries to give voice to that unspeakable pain, here’s my report:

BREAKING: Alice Edwards, one of only two UN rights experts to sign a letter on the Oct. 7 atrocities, says “There was a campaign [by other rapporteurs] to prevent that letter going out. Weeks of being bullied and deterred from writing it, telling me everything in it was false.”
Rubio sanctions Cuba state energy firm CUPET, accusing regime of weaponizing fuel. The designation comes after Miami firm Vanguard energy struck a deal with #Cuba to storage fuel on the island to sell to the private sector. That’s likely not happening.

My latest from the Vital Center.
For true change in Venezuela policymakers need to see
- A release of all political prisoners and return of exiles
- Restoring property (including books, pets, and personal belongings) of dissidents
- a date for elections
