It's time to rethink property tax in the United States of America. Property taxes have several flaws: 1) As long as you owe the government every year, and they can take your home if you don’t pay, then you never really own your own. Which means private property is never actually attained. 2) There is no correlation between the tax and people’s cash flow and ability to pay. A house that has been in the family for 100 years could be currently owned by a senior on a fixed income, and they could literally be priced out of their own home due to nothing they did. 3) Neighbors pay wildly different amounts than each other to support local government, none of which has to do with their ability to pay.
