Bologna was so much fun, and in some ways it was a completely different beast to casting esports. It was my first premier level event for a TCG and I really didn’t want to go into the weekend without doing the most I possibly could to be ready for the challenge. Massive thanks to the
@riftboundop and
@PlayUVSGames teams for the invite, it was an honor to be a part of the broadcast. Especially shoutout to
@riftboundramble for handling anything and everything to make sure we could be as show-focused as possible. Genuinely makes a massive difference knowing someone who cares so much is there to help.
Being reunited on a show with
@MedicCasts over a decade after we first worked together was a real joy. Especially with me moving to play-by-play starting from Wild Rift, there’s so much I get to learn from working closely with Aaron that I just didn’t have the time to pick up in our brief EU LCS crossover back in 2017. I’d say a lot of the areas I have to grow most in are his strengths that have earned him a spot casting League World Finals, and the respect of the community, so that opportunity to study for the weekend was a golden one for me.
One of the only things I wish happened a little differently is if I’d have had time to cast with
@pumpkaamy this event. On and off camera she brings an energy that lifts the entire atmosphere that keeps the team upbeat and empowered. It’s a shame I also didn’t get to listen to the games I wasn’t casting, but from our conversations off camera I know she did a great job dropping knowledge and breaking down the games.
@koninglionheart did so much proverbial heavy lifting in our games that it’s difficult to overstate how much he crushed the weekend. The quick analysis in the Ezreal mirror yesterday where the game revolves more about getting rid of the opponents seals for the early game was great. I doubt I would have caught it in the same way alone, or at least would have been way more shallow, but that read allowed us to stay in the game rather than playing catch up. Couldn’t have asked for more from a co-caster in the games this weekend and I know we’ll only get better as we (hopefully) get to work together more.
I have some behind the scenes footage and way way more thoughts to share in a vlog this week, but I said it already yesterday: Holy shit I love casting Riftbound. The atmosphere the community brought to
#RQBologna and love for the players, and the game has me eagerly excited to get to more events.
