I was obsessed with this show when it first aired - taped every episode and watched them on repeat. Bring back live studio sitcoms!
Filthy Rich & Catflap (1987). Not quite a Young Ones sequel: writer Ben Elton brings together Nigel Planer, Rik Mayall and Ade Edmonson for a single season of fart gags, innuendo, light entertainment and extreme violence.
Premise? Erm... has-been actor Richard "Richie" Rich and his minder Eddie Catflap get into various scrapes at the behest of seedy agent Ralph Filthy. Guest stars appear to show they are 'down with the kids' and everyone pokes fun at the BBC.
Best remembered for its catchphrases ("Lager frenzy!" "Oo-er, sounds a bit rude!" "Deep, deep troub!") it's hardly repeated and reasonably forgotten, eclipsed by Bottom four years later. But it is a great time capsule of the mid-'80s and there are some solid laughs along the way.
