When I announced my campaign 7 weeks ago, I was so excited to finally share my plan for a safer & better LA with all of you. From being the first DDA to speak out about George Gascón’s dangerous “day 1” directives & standing up to his failed leadership, it’s been quite a journey for my family & me. I’ve been all over the county from San Dimas to Lancaster, listening & meeting so many of you. And all of you have been right there with me. I thought now would be a good time to share with those of you who might be new to Team Hatami a little more about my story & what led me to step up and make this run for District Attorney. So much about what I stand for – what I believe in –where I came from, is all in this video. The support I’ve received in these weeks since kicking off my campaign has been humbling & inspiring. Thank you! I need you in this fight with me. Together, we’ll make Los Angeles safer for all of us. Visit JonathanHatami.com to donate TODAY! it will go a long way toward helping my campaign have the resources we’ll need to beat Gascón & his special interest donors.

CNN today: -Since 2000, CA’s population has ⬆️ 15%. However, our state’s general expenditures has ⬆️ over 200%. “Has CA gotten 200% better in the last 25 yrs?” -“Housing is the central failure.” 2021-2024, LA issued only 118,000 building permits. Atlanta, which is half the size, issued 163,000. “To hard, slow and expensive to build.” “Home prices soar, rents rise, commuters commute farther, homelessness grows and young people leave.” Young people just can’t afford homes here. And, not one politician has addressed the home insurance crisis for many of us in “fire zones.” -Education spending more than doubled from 2010 to now. However we are: 43rd in 4th grade math; 39th in 4th grade reading; 36th in 8th grade math; and, 38th in 8th grade reading. -$24 billion spent on homelessness over past 5 yrs. Yet, homelessness continues to be at record highs in CA. We have the highest percentage of homeless veterans in the country here in CA. -“CA has failed to add any new jobs in net in 2025.” -Hollywood is “in slow motion collapse.” CA shoot days - 36,792 in 2022. 19,654 in 2025. Film, TV and sound jobs fell 29.6%. Motion picture employment - 142,000 in 2022. 100,000 in 2024. Because of “high taxes, cost, and regulation, the work has moved elsewhere.” “Why does a state with so much money, talent and promise make life for ordinary people so hard?” When our politicians are focused on Elon Musk, Trump, releasing criminals and calling them victims, deceptive propositions, higher taxes, more regulations, fake promises, power and political party over people, lying, not prioritizing education and public safety, not supporting families, a failure to address high gas prices and grocery prices, bad road conditions, unsafe public transportation, sheer laziness, and a failure to actually lead, this is what we get. I don’t believe in giving up. Never have. I’m not leaving. Never said I would - I’m infantry. We just keep moving forward. It’s my home. It’s my families home. I’ll continue to do what I can to make it better for my kids and yours. I hope we all keep fighting. Follow me.

Four years ago today we tragically lost El Monte police Sergeant Michael Paredes and Officer Joseph Santana. Roxanne and I continue to offer our prayers and support to Sasha, Bianca, Olga, and Janine, their families, their children who have lost their dads, their partners & fellow officers & to the entire El Monte community. We must never forget their love, commitment and service to our community. I will always stand with and support my sisters and brothers in the El Monte Police Department and all our first responders. I’m forever grateful for their selfless service. To all the first responder dads we have lost way too soon, including Michael and Joseph in Heaven, you were appreciated, we love you and you will never be forgotten. 🙏🏽 #NeverForget

In 2020, when Gascon made my life, my families life and my work life a living hell, Pastor Chappell at Lancaster Baptist saw me on TV speaking out and standing up for crime victims. We had never met each other even though I had worked in the Antelope Valley over a decade. I handled a teen victim rape case and trial that happened in close vicinity to the church where some of the church members actually saved one of the victims and chased the defendant into the desert. The defendant got over a 100 years to life thankfully. And, Steve Owen’s funeral service was also held at Lancaster Baptist. So, I knew the great deeds of the church but never met Pastor Chappell. Pastor Chappell contacted Jackie Lacey (a believer), in early 2020, who gave him my phone number. Out of the blue he called me, prayed for and with me and invited my family and I to church. It was during Covid, and we were like … hmm … “this dude is holding church services when even our church is closed.” Roxanne and I were like … “Let’s go.” I’m military. Roxanne is a deputy sheriff. They made her work everyday during Covid. So I don’t want to hear it from anyone about that. Anyway… God always has a plan. We became members and the whole family was baptized together. I’m not perfect. Not even close. I’ve made a lot of mistakes early in my life. Got in trouble too. Also, we don’t attend church as much as we should. But I truly am blessed that God directed my family and I to Lancaster Baptist. Pastor Chappell has been like a father figure to me. As someone who wasn’t raised with a Dad, and who had a really difficult childhood, I’m just blessed for Pastor Chappell’s advice, guidance and love. I can call, text or talk to him anytime. His family is also some of the nicest people. He does truly care about our community. Thank you Pastor Chappell for always being there for me and my family. 🙏🏽

How is someone who committed first degree murder, released early from prison, is an active gang member and now illegally in possession of body armor a LA City taxpayer-paid “peace ambassador?” What is going on in our City and County? Who is defining “peaceful?”

On this Memorial Day we Honor and Remember the brave women and men who gave their last full measure of devotion to our Nation. Our freedom and liberty is paid for by their sacrifice, and that of their families and loved ones. May their memory be forever blessed. For those that gave their life for something greater and bigger than oneself-we haven't forgotten and never will. As a proud veteran and a Dad, please teach your children why this day exists. John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one's life for his friends 🙏🏽 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸 🇺🇸

Today is May 22, 2026. For those who don't know, thirteen years ago today sweet little Gabriel passed away. Some recognize May 24, 2013, as the day Gabriel was officially pronounced deceased. However, for me, for the jurors, for the first responders, for my detectives, and for those there that night and based upon all the evidence we presented at grand jury and trial, we sadly lost Gabriel the night of May 22, 2013.   So, today and everyday, we remember the life of a little boy that deserved better from so many. Thirteen years may have gone by but our fight for justice is not over. Our commitment to Gabriel remains resolute. Our fight to get justice for abused children continues and our journey to change the laws to protect our most vulnerable keeps driving forward. His life mattered. To me, Gabriel will always be an example of courage. His case, his life, his death, and his trial will always be with his family, with my family, with his friends and with the community. No matter what any one person tries to do, he will never be forgotten. He has made me a better person, a better father, a better husband, and a better prosecutor. We love you Gabriel 🙏🏽❤️🙏🏽 (The photo is when he was baptized)

I was in the gym at lunch, like I usually am, unless I’m in trial or doing a prelim. I happened to look over at the TV, and is every candidate in Los Angeles, elected or not, Republican, Democratic or NPP, running on public safety? I have two comments on this: (1) I thought crime was down? LA City & LA County can’t even locate billions of our taxpayer dollars - I’m sorry, but I don’t trust them with crime stats. Less police, less arrests, no obs, no proactive policing, people don’t report because they feel nothing will happen, etc… that doesn’t mean crime is down. (2) You are NOT for public safety, I don’t care what you say or what your commercials say, if you -Supported Gascon in San Francisco, in Los Angeles, or anywhere for that matter (I know who you are). -Supported AB 109, Prop 47, Prop 57, didn’t support Prop 36, supported mental health diversion for attempted murderers and violent criminals, elder parole for serial child molesters, no LWOP for intentional murder by torture of a child, no sex registration for many sex crimes, encampments by schools and homes where there is crime, drug usage, and drug sales that endanger children, buying a minor for sex not being a felony, $0 bail during COVID, early release of violent criminals during COVID, less police on Metro and public transit, don’t support victims or claim criminals are victims, or you voted for these horrible things as an elected assembly person, Senator, or you abstained (again, I know who you are). And, please, I don’t want to see … Republican this, Democrat that in the comments … if you are watching the LA Mayor race, it should tell you something - vote for the candidate not the party. Research the candidates. If you didn’t know, I’m a Democrat. If you are an elected official, and you are so weak that you bow down to your political party over the People, you don’t deserve to be in office.

Can one CA politician actually be a honest leader for once, apologize if he or she was wrong or didn’t fulfill a campaign promise, not blame others, take responsibility and actually do better? Just once.

Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle, even for a minute. A parked cars interior can rise 20 F to 30 F degrees in just 10 minutes. Animals cannot cool themselves efficiently. A child’s body temperature rises 3 to 5 times faster than an adult’s. Don’t forget your child or pet in your car! Put your purse or phone or whatever you think is important in the back seat where your pet or child is so you don’t forget. Also, don’t just go run a “quick errand.” If you see a pet or child in distress, call 911 immediately and please help if you are able. I’ve seen this way too many times in my job. Please look out for our vulnerable members of our community. You can make a difference that saves a pet or child.

I love to BBQ. My kids love it. If any elected official in LA wants to ban backyard BBQ’ing because of “fire safety” reasons but says zero about the illegal dangerous public fires, illegal encampments or electrical theft happening everyday in our communities, that elected official really hasn’t a clue about public safety or our LA culture in general.

I commend Gov Newsom for this. I personally know moms & dads who have lost their sons & daughters to crime, and their loved ones case is still unsolved. It’s heartbreaking not knowing what happened to your child. The hurt lasts forever. My issue-if you never supported the full prosecution of these cases after someone is caught, if you continuously supported George Gascón, Pam Price and Chesa Boudin, and if you signed legislation saying these criminals who take the lives of our loved ones should be released early, you care more about politics than actual victims, their families and public safety. We are still waiting for you to apologize for what you allowed to happen to Los Angeles & our community for over four years. Doing the right thing oftentimes requires going against your political party in order to benefit and protect our entire community especially children.
I'm offering $50,000 rewards to anyone providing information that helps crack unsolved crimes in California. If you know something, it is your duty to come forward to give victims and their loved ones justice. Every case matters, every victim matters, and California is determined to secure accountability.

In and around MacArthur Park today, 18 people were arrested and 40 pounds of fentanyl worth between $8-$10 million was recovered. 1 ng/mL (nanogram per milliliter) of fentanyl in a young child’s blood can kill that child. I’ve seen it too many times. Prop 47 didn’t work. Getting rid of drug court was dumb. Not funding Prop 36 makes zero sense. Open air drug markets - just plain unsafe. The way we are dealing with the homelessness crisis - not effective, safe or humane. If you aren’t protecting children as an elected official in LA, you aren’t doing your job. Arrest & fully prosecute drug dealers that our endangering our children and communities. Stop coddling drug users - tough love (mandatory treatment and custody time if necessary). If you are a parent or guardian, do NOT under any circumstances bring death drugs into your home or you will be prosecuted. And, if you supported Gascon, the same person who supported Prop 47, open air drug markets and no murder charges for fentanyl dealers and parents killing babies with fentanyl, then you are part of the problem.

It was an honor to be invited to the initial unveiling of the Anthony Avalos’ memorial plaque located at his school, El Dorado Elementary School, in Lancaster, CA. The plaque reads: Anthony Nolan Avalos Memorial Forever in Our Hearts A beloved son, student, and friend Whose kindness and bright spirit touched so many. May this memorial remind every child: You are not alone. Your voice matters. There is help. There is hope. Let Anthony’s legacy be one of love, strength, and protection for all children. In loving memory. I want to Thank Maricruz and Karla, Anthony’s aunts, Concepcion, Anthony’s grandma, Harmony, Anthony’s 4th grade teacher, the El Dorado principal, vice principal and school district, and Anthony’s friends & community for such a beautiful honor. I also wanted to Thank Congressman George Whitesides and State Senator Suzette Valladares for your support for Anthony and his family & friends. This plaque, which is located in the school cafeteria for all the students to see, will forever stand for our love and support for Anthony and his community and his legacy that ALL children matter and as a community we must do our best to protect ALL children.

Today Anthony Nolan Avalos would have turned 18 years old. Celebrate his life and birthday. ❤️ But also please honor his legacy. Fourteen days after Gabriel’s killers were sentenced, I got the tragic call regarding Anthony. After a 5-year journey, Anthony’s killers were also tried in court, convicted and ultimately sentenced to life without the possibility of parole. Whenever any politician starts talking about getting rid of LWOP - please remember Anthony Avalos and all the children we have lost way too early. Years may pass, and I may someday retire, but wherever life takes me, I’ll never stop fighting for justice for Anthony. Anthony made me, my co-counsel, Saeed, my detectives, Adam and Omar, my child abuse pediatrician, Claudia, and my team better people. Anthony made me a better dad and a better prosecutor. He, his dad, his brothers & sisters, his grandma, his cousins, his aunts and uncles and his teacher, Harmony, will always and forever be in my heart and my life. My thoughts and prayers are with Anthony’s dad, his siblings, Rafael, Destiny and Junior, his family, friends and loved ones on his birthday. I will never forget holding Anthony’s sister’s hand during her victim impact in court when she said, “If I were to have known that this would end with me losing a brother, I would do it all over again with just one difference - that it would be me.” 😢 If you see abuse, always say something or actually do something to help a child. Get involved in your community. Pay attention to children in your neighborhood. Remember - all children are our future. Don’t remain silent. Don’t just ignore children in need - this includes teenagers! Oppose & speak out regarding any legislation out of Sacramento that fails to protect all children. The safety and well-being of all our children is everyone’s responsibility. Be the difference to save a child. Happy Heavenly Birthday Anthony! Roxanne and I will never forget you 🙏🏽❤️‍🩹

I think so many people in Los Angeles are just tired of the homelessness crisis. It’s gone on for years. We are tired of the highest gas & grocery prices, highest electrical bills, skyrocketing housing prices and the expense of homeowners insurance or inability to get insurance at all. We are tired of the crime, home burglaries, animal abuse, sexual abuse, child abuse, rampant theft and of leaders telling us there isn’t crime at all. We are tired of our failing schools. Why can’t we have better roads and streetlights? We are so tired of the increase in taxes, the constant request by politicians for more taxes, but worse services and rampant fraud & corruption all while politicians and their friends get richer. We are tired of politicians telling us to follow the law when they don’t. We are tired of the same failed politicians jumping from one position to the next position making promises they never fulfill. We are tired of gaslighting, virtue signaling, turning everything political and just straight up lying. We are tired of politicians who don’t support children & families. We are tired of politicians thinking murderers are victims, safety doesn’t matter, all criminals should be released, and people aren’t responsible for their own actions. So, when normal, reasonable everyday people decide to run for office, I’m tired of the group of LA entitled elitists who feel they get to decide who can and can’t run for elected office. Anyone challenging the status quo, anyone challenging their power, anyone “jumping the line,” they put down and demean. They don’t talk about issues, why they are a better candidate or why their ideas are better. It’s Privilege & Entitlement. They think they deserve the position and are better than us. They aren’t. You don’t deserve anything - you earn it.
