Hi Bren. Actually, asking the people via referendum if this is what we want first, before parliament legislates is a far more democratic way to create change. Point is, do voters want the voice of Indigenous Australians recognised in the Constitution or not? I certainly do.
Or the Parliament legislates The Voice to show the people what it is and how it works, then has a referendum to add it to the Constitution. That’s a better way it works! What’s not to understand?

YOUR government is deliberately mistreating the Sri Lankan family from Biloela at YOUR expense. Two possible responses: 1. Disgust that we could treat ANY human beings this way 3. Outrage that we are spending millions of $$$ every year mistreating innocent human beings

The proposed changes to ACNC Governance Standards must not proceed. They are unnecessary and have no evidence base to support them. They will undermine the work of Australian charities and have a chilling effect on the civic activism that is an essential part of our democracy.

Thanks for highlighting this Wendy - charities are more highly regulated than business including annual reporting to a national regulator. They can already lose charitable status for unlawful behavior - this is massive over- reach that will impact 55,000 charities 1.38m staff
