Strap in, y'all. This one's a doozy. So I got up at 5 because I couldn’t stop thinking about the pigeon. I finally left the house at 6:45am, got to the ABC offices, but no one was around. Went around the other side to 66th ST, talked with Lucien, the security guard at the door 1/

Got an early a.m. alert from awesome bird rescuer, @jpainz, re: hurt bird nearby. This baby was not moving, but breathing very rapidly. It took forEver to get down @wildbirdfund due to terrible train service today.
S/he was still breathing so they will try to save.🤞🙏🐦⬛

I drove to 648 Grassmere Park to see it for myself.
I had no idea what was about to be built 50 yards from the @nashvillezoo.
A data center. Right against the treeline where the animals my kids grew up visiting are kept.
I’m not anti-technology…
The phone you’re reading this on is tied to one of these somewhere. We all live in this now.
But here’s the thing nobody’s telling you: a low hum doesn’t stop at a wall. It goes right through it. And the zoo’s own CEO says it’d sit 50 yards from animals they’ve spent decades trying to protect and breed.
No study. No rules. No vote. Just a rushed permit.

The family of a child who was repeatedly raped by a man who Ken Paxton let off with no new jail time is speaking out:
“The fact that Attorney General Ken Paxton allowed this man to get away with molesting and sexually abusing [our] son for three years is completely disqualifying.

I went to Starbucks and I asked the baristas if people come in with no dogs and order pup cups and eat it and they said yes and I'm like holy shit that's how bad things are.

Went to check on a hurt pigeon on 3rd avenue and 9th street this morning but he was no longer there. Then a rescuer friend of mine texted me about a pigeon stuck upside down in some netting. This was posted in the FB NYC emergency rescue group.

Lo and behold, the woman who lived in that apartment had raised her window and was taking photos of the bird. I called up to her and told her I was a wildlife rescuer and that I could help the pigeon if she buzzed me in. 8:30am, lower east side. /3

I was genuinely surprised she buzzed me in, but she did and it took two seconds to cut the bird loose, put him in a bag, and that was that. Brought Inverted (terrible name for a pigeon) to @wildbirdfund and hopefully he'll be released in no time.
