Variable Temperature #NMR is a great tool to study exchange but sometimes it is not good enough. In this work, @Buttsresearchgp, @ClaydenGroup and I show the next step forward following some old work from the @mancNMR geniuses.

ALT Using chemical-shift scaling (an NMR pulse sequence), we have shown it possible to accurately shift-scale spectra to 2% of the original field strength, accounting for exchange and second-order effects. When applied to exchanging systems, it can be used to extract isothermal coalescence frequencies and rates (of potential interest to biomolecules etc.). It can also be combined with VTNMR to get closer to coalescence or obtain several coalescence points. This improves the accuracy of Eyring plots, significantly reducing the uncertainty of thermodynamic activation parameters. There is scope for further reduction of these uncertainties and application to heteronuclei.

I was really thrilled to participate at SMASH in California a few weeks ago and (as you might have noticed from the trunks and flip-flops) was very surprised to be awarded one of the best poster awards! Thanks to all involved in organising the conference!

#NMR aficionados, what software do you find best for line shape analysis in dynamic systems and why? I've tried SpinWorks and the @bruker Topspin DNMR module but had issues with both / can't find the relevant information for my specific system.
