Visiting a Gurdwara should always be a positive, safe & welcoming experience for everyone. By staying aware of our surroundings, looking out for one another & reporting suspicious behaviour when concerns arise, we can help protect our places of worship and the sangat they serve.

What exactly is a Kirpan, and why does UK law allow Sikhs to carry one? I spoke on @BBCLeicester about Sikh beliefs, the Kirpan, and the importance of accurate public understanding. 🎙️ Interview attached. #Sikh #Sikhi #Kirpan #HenryNowak

On 14 March, Sikhs celebrated the start of the month of Chet - first month of the Sikh calendar often referred to as the Sikh New Year. Sikh MP’s and staff got together in Parliament to read Japji Sahib Paath & join in Ardas prayer for wellbeing of all in the year ahead. We also took the opportunity to re-wrap the two Gutka’s retained by House authorities for swearing in ceremonies. More info here: sikhiwiki.org/index.php/Chet

For those people commenting about an independent inquiry into child sexual abuse, see below.
See video below in response to misinformation shared around Sikh / Punjabi / Indian communities regarding a vote in the House of Commons in January suggesting this vote was to establish a national enquiry into grooming. I’ve produced this video to set the record straight. For further info: Children's Wellbeing & Schools Bill: publications.parliament.uk/p… Amendment (on page 6): commonsbusiness.parliament.u…

Privileged to be at the @RoyalAlbertHall last night for the #FestivalofRemembrance @PoppyLegion. It was important to honour the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, a conflict that saw Undivided #India raise the largest volunteer Army the world has seen - 2.5 million-strong. Powerful stories of military families provided a backdrop to an emotional evening. #RemembranceDay #Lestweforget #LestWeForgetIndia #ww1

This is so awesome. The Sikh regiments played an oversized role in the Imperial Army for centuries. It was Sikh regiments who relieved the Canadian Army at the Second Battle of Ypres. A proud martial tradition which many Sikhs continue in the @CanadianArmy today.

My question to the Minister for Safeguarding and Violence Against Women and Girls regarding the grooming gangs enquiry. The grooming enquiry must not be watered down, particularly the focus on grooming gangs and ethnicity, including models of grooming where groomers focused on ethnicity of victims be they white working class girls or Sikh girls.

This week, I questioned the Prime Minister about ensuring security at all places of worship remains a priority, Britain’s role and the pragmatic approach required to deliver a two-state solution in the Middle East, and further progress on trade deals that benefit the people of the UK.
