Humboldt friends! I'm looking forward to reading to you August 28th, 3pm at Elk Head. I've been dreaming up an outdoor, site specific series and this seemed like the best place to start. Please bring a blanket or a lightweight chair if you'd like to get cozy while I read!

On April 17th I’ll be teaching a writing workshop based on my recent book Every Day Is a Poem. I’ll guide us through the process of creative writing using exercises and prompts that aim to enhance the poetic mindset as well as refine and enliven the craft of prose and poetry.

“The act of writing feels like a meditation in loneliness & often a study in rejection, so community feels vital. To talk, collaborate, share your work, manifest, dream & support one another in the struggle helps keep me grounded & focused.” —@anthony_cody at.pw.org/LifeInPoetry

I’m thinking about why we don’t take care of ourselves. The reasons: Oppression, systemic prevention from accessing the tools of health, a lack of worth due to trauma, no clarity of insensitive and fear. Often our worthlessness serves the oppressor. Self care is a radical action.

We're finding a lot of comfort and joy in poetry lately, so it was only natural to ask @jsuskin to write some words for us all. Hope you're all doing your best to take care out there ❤️

I wrote over 200 poems for y’all in April! Now I’m taking a step back for the month. Thank you for supporting me, for buying my books, and for caring about the healing magic of poetry. It’s an honor to let it pass through me. Here’s to clarity, protection, and newness for all.
